Very good optical trackball, similar in design to Kensington Expert. It's 2.4 GHz wireless, receiver is stored under 2x AAA battery cover. Interesting detail - additional legs that allow to put it in horizontal position. Have no idea who would need that, though.

With legs retracted, the device is quite convenient: buttons are right where you expect them to be; scrollwheel accessible for thumb relatively easy.

Trackball is equipped with 2400 cpi PixArt PAW3212DB-TJDT sensor, main switches are HUANO and secondary YSA. Additional switches (wheel click and DPI change) are simple tact buttons. Encoder is mechanical, translucent wheel illuminated with RGB LEDs to indicate selected DPI setting. Red sparkling ball is supported by white ceramic 3.0mm beads. Movement is quite smooth.

Device is assembled with screws, ribbon cable from sensor to main PCB attached to connectors on both ends. Controller is marked MA60H383: obviously, MosArt Semiconductor product - but I'm unable to find a datasheet.

I've just two minor complains:
1)- Removing of the ball for cleaning is quite hard: it feels like you're heavily scratching it and destroying the case. The issue is easy to fix by making the hole in case (with inner ball cup removed, of course) slightly bigger: I've used rotating Noga deburring knife for that.
2)- Scrollwheel is rubbing against case, making unpleasant sound & feel. Fixed by careful cutting of case opening edges in contact places.

USB receiver RCV-122R is based on MA60H416 chip. Also can't find datasheet. Quote from Adesso ad: "Works up to 30 feet of wireless distance. Operates on 12 different channels, each with 65,536 different IDs."

Surprising fact is - it does support multiple devices simultaneously (like Logitech's Unifying dongles), but it isn't mentioned on manufacturer's documentation. Radio connection is bidirectional: if you change DPI in driver settings, it is reported back to the trackball and indicated by LED color. Funny thing is - it's possible to define custom colors for particular sensitivity. Also, the driver allows to reassign all the buttons, including DPI selection ones (I've selected Copy and Paste for them). Macro sequences could be recorded, and various profiles created for quick selection. Quite rare property for modern trackballs - the settings are actually stored in device memory, not the driver. That would be a remarkable selling point, but just like multi-device feature it isn't even mentioned in the Adesso ads for some reasons.

In general - it's fine modern trackball with good sensor, versatile software and onboard configuration memory. DPI range is specified by Adesso as 400-4800 but actual capability of PAW3212 sensor is 2400, so higher values are probably simulated in firmware by doubling its output. Polling rate is switchable from 125 Hz to 1000 Hz, so it's good for games and modern fast-refresh displays.

Pairing procedure (undocumented for this particular device, but present on Adesso support pages for several wireless mice, and working fine for trackballs as well):

1. What if my mouse does not pair with the USB dongle?

Pairing for iMouse E10:
1.) Remove the USB receiver from your computer.
2.) Power the mouse on (you should see a red light near where your thumb would rest for 5 seconds)
3.) Insert the USB receiver into your computer.
4.) While holding the right-click button, press the scroll wheel button, then release both buttons.
5.) Test the mouse- it should now be paired!

*Note, you must press right-click and the scroll wheel together within 10 seconds of inserting the USB receiver into your computer. If the above steps do not work, please try removing the USB receiver and inserting it again, then follow step 4. If your mouse still will not pair, ensure that you’re using brand new batteries and repeat the above steps.
